A light touch, hands-on treatment that uses subtle rhythmic movement of the body to detect restrictions in the skull, nervous system, and throughout the body. CranioSacral Therapy: is
a gentle, non-invasive method of evaluating and enhancing the function of
the CranioSacral system, the environment in which
the brain and spinal cord function. Developed by John E. Upledger, D.O., O.M.M.,
this manual therapy encourages the body's natural healing mechanisms to improve
the operation of the central nervous system, dissipate the negative effects
of stress, enhance health and strengthen resistance to disease. The CranioSacral
system consists of the membranes and cerebrospinal fluid that surround and
protect the brain and spinal cord. It extends from the bones of the skull,
face and mouth - which make up the cranium - down to the sacrum, or tailbone.
The gentle use of five grams of pressure (the weight of a nickel) is used to
test for restrictions in this system and for correction. CranioSacral Therapy
is often used for treatment of headaches and migraines, chronic back and neck
pain, emotional disturbances, ADD, Autism, infantile disorders, motor-coordination
disorders, learning disabilities, TMJ disfunction Cerebral Palsy and much more.
It is used with adults and is also a excellent therapy for infants and children
because it is so gentle. |
